lick of hemp butter

shit is good.

First off, is it just me or does the phrase "lick of hemp butter" make any one else shudder, as if from nails on a chalkboard. It conjures up the image of someone licking a bar of butter and that's just not right. Not right at all.

BreakfastOatmeal with a cup of apple sauceChocolate whey protein shake with skimomega-3, multi vitaminsIn short, not enough, but it's Friday and Friday is lunch at The Pump day.

And the question on everyones mind...Just what does our favorite sadist (aka trainer) have in store for us this weekend?I'd put money on Fight Gone Bad coming up. I just have a hunch, and I don't think that's come around since the great rib debacle of '08. Cause we all know this weekend is going to be intense. Any other guesses as to what's going on in David's mind (and lets keep it clean Allison)?

i agree erik. margie, do you actually lick the butter, as if it were a lollypop?

not the best breakfast, but they feed us here for free - so when a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich is waiting for me, i take it!

sushi for lunch today!

i'm hoping for something good on sunday, last game tomorrow! inwood park @ 215th street @ 1:30 if anyone is feeling adventurous. it's our "family day" so there will be food, beer and all of our teams (men, women, old boys, kiddies) playing throughout the day.

Breakfast:1/2 cup slow oatmeal w/ 1/2 scoop of whey, 1/4 cup toasted pecans, dash of cinnamon2 slices of black forest deli ham

Am still nice and sore from (swinging) knees to elbows on Wednesday.

What's wrong with licking a bar of butter? Mmmm butter.

Did everyone see Allison in the Glory Box video? http://www.crossfit.com/mt-archive2/003634.html

Ach, you guys.hemp butter=nut butter. Take a spoon, dip it in the jar, lick it.

John C, back me up on this!

Steph, what is this magic place that feeds you breakfast?

Been having similar thoughts, Erik. Weights and chaos will definitely occur, so FGB is a good guess. Could also be a DO original... weighted burpees/sandbag squats/box jumps?

Lazy breakfast because I woke up late:2 meatballs2oz of smoked sausage1 apple1/2cup grapes1/2 oz of chocolate6 walnuts6 almonds

Fish oil, Vitamins E and C

Why is everyone so terrified of this weekend? Afraid of David showing off for the Germans or something? As someone of German descent I can tell you that we have no special love of pain and suffering, even if history says otherwise.

this "special place" is my workplace. they feed us breakfast and lunch (and snacks). its nice but a hard environment to be in. they warn new employees about the "jane street 15" similar to the "freshman 15" when you go to college...

very hard to be zonesque when there are fun things to eat lying around..
May 16, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterstephanie
stephine do you work at Jane? I live on 6th ave right around the corner from that place and also work at a brunch spot.... though we refer to it as becoming "Buttermilk Diesel"
May 16, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterZak
zak, sorry, should have clarified - i work at jane street capital (no connection whatsoever with the actual jane street in the village) and we're downtown.

what brunch spot? i heart brunch.

jacinto breakfast but in a blender with coconut water!!

delicious!
May 16, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterzak
Zak. I would like your professional opinion on frying bacon in cast iron.

My bacon tends to get too crispy (read nearly burned) before all the fat has rendered. Why is that? I've been heating the pan first (med heat), then adding the bacon. I was thinking maybe it's because I season my pan with ev olive oil and it gets too hot too quickly, so then I thought maybe I should season the pan with coconut oil.

Whaddya think?
May 16, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMargie
nah.... just go slow and low....

i recommends less preheating time and keep the flame on a med-low heat. at the restaurant we bake our bacon at 350 degrees in a convection oven for about 20min. it gets rendered and crispy! (then reheated later) most resaurants do it this way... keeps the bacon from going all curley too.... another option would be to get a bacon press to keep it flat so it cooks more evenly.
May 16, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterzak
brilliant!

much obliged.
May 16, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMargie
also, when i am frying up my bacon, i don't use any oil at all, the bacon has enough fat to cook off that i don't find the need for extra oil.

this past weekend i made bacon on a grill ontop of alum. foil - it was amazing. highly recommended!
May 16, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterstephanie
oh i don't add any fat. it's just the seasoning from the skillet.

grilled bacon sounds killer!

We need to tape that bodyweight snatch so i can get some free stuff from the PM Menu. Will you be around this weekend in BK?
